Scientists testing an electronic tongue, which is a device for detecting chemical differences related to taste. This test is to see whether it is effective in distinguishing between juice from healthy oranges and juice from oranges infected with citrus-greening disease, or huanglongbing (HLB). HLB is a bacterial disease which stunts the growth of citrus trees, and harms the quality of fruit they produce. It is caused by bacteria belonging to the Liberibacter genus.
