Giant hogweed plants (Heracleum mantegazzianum) along a roadside. This invasive alien species contains a sap which causes photodermatitis, which is increased sensitivity of the skin to ultra- violet light. Giant hogweed dominates vegetation in marginal habitats and along riverbanks and crowds out native plants. Photographed in Hermiston, Edinburgh, Scotland, in July.
