Dead acacia trees at Dead Vlei (Valley of the Dead), Namibia. This area was cut-off from the Sossusvlei valley by a tranistory sand dune some 900 years ago. Lacking a regular supply of water, the trees seen here died and the area became an arid salt pan. Photographed in Africa.
