MODEL RELEASED. Rock climber climbing up a steep face on a limestone crag. This technique is known as top roping. The rope is threaded through an anchor point at the top of the route, providing security from above. The other end of the rope is attached to a person belaying at the foot of the rock (not seen) who controls the slack of the rope and stops it slipping should the climber fall.
