Nuclear industry. Non-radioactive waste produced by the nuclear industry. These include items from hospitals (such as the syringe) and nuclear power stations. All components used in the nuclear fuel cycle must be disposed of properly, according to their level of radioactivity. This non-radioactive waste can be incinerated as normal waste, but must be carefully sorted from the radioactive waste. Photographed in 2004 at the Centraco factory, in Marcoule, France.
