Tailless whipscorpion (order Amblypygi). This insect walks sideways and locates its prey by using its 'whips'. The whip is actually a long front leg. Once located the whipscorpion grasps its prey with its pedipalps (leg-like mouthparts, front spikes) before eating with its chelicerae (fangs). Photographed in Yasuni National Park, Amazon rainforest, Ecuador.
