Secretory otitis media, also known as glue ear. It is an inflammation of the middle ear usually caused by a bacteria or virus. The picture shows a grommet (white), a double-cuffed tube inserted into the eardrum to allow secretory substances an exit. The grommet equalises pressure in the inner ear. If untreated with antibiotics the condition may lead to deafness.
