MODEL RELEASED. Broken leg. Nurse swabbing around a pin of an external frame attached to a man's fractured leg. The frame has immobilized the bones following their realignment. Unfortunately, the frame led to septicaemia, tissue death caused by the absorption of disease-causing bacteria or their toxins from the blood. The swab will be sent for analysis to identify the bacteria causing the infection. The infection is being treated with antibiotics. The man's leg was broken by a runaway wheel that struck him from behind after coming off a car as it sped around a corner.
