Plasma is blood fluid, and contains nutrients, salts and various proteins, which include disease- fighting antibodies and clotting factors. After extraction, the plasma will be typed, frozen and stored. It will be used in hospitals to replace lost blood, especially in the treatment of bleeding disorders such as haemophilia.
