Oriental pulse diagnosis. Medical practitioner finding a patient's pulse by lightly pressing his fingers along the radial artery on the inside of his wrist. Different pulses are found by pressing a little deeper, and the procedure is then repeated on the other wrist, giving a total of twelve pulses. Each pulse is interpreted in terms of its strength and quality. On the basis of these results and a general examination, the practitioner decides where imbalances in the body's energy, or Qi, lie and corrects them. Photographed in Dr Bae's Clinic in Kwangju, South Korea.
