Lower back pain (lumbago) is a common ailment with many causes. It may be caused by a slipped disc (being pointed at by pen) between the vertebrae of the spine or injury caused by a sudden turning or bending movement. The doctor may recommend an X-ray, while some patients must wear a back brace. Treatment is usually bed rest.
