SP is a manufacturing company that produces composite materials, such as laminates based on carbon and glass. These composite materials are both lightweight and strong. For a wind turbine, this allows the manufacture of large blades that can still be moved by the wind to drive an electricity generator. SP has its headquarters on the Isle of Wight, UK, where most of its manufacturing work takes place. It also makes materials for cars and boats. SP was founded in the late 1970s.
