Eye scanning. Conceptual computer artwork of a human eye, electronic circuitry and binary digits (zeros and ones), representing the use of iris and retina information for identification. The patterns of the iris and retina of the eye are unique to each individual. The iris and retina can be imaged by scanning technology. The data is encoded by computer and can then be used to identify the individual if the eye has been previously scanned. Such technology may be used to verify a person's identity for access to a building or bank account, or in conjunction with a passport or identity card.
