Sperm whale dissection. Scientists examine a sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) carcass that has been stripped of its soft tissue. This specimen was found on Henne Strand, Jutland, Denmark and measured 14 meters in length and weighed an estimated 30 tonnes. The tissue samples were removed for study by veterinary scientists from Aarhus University. The skeleton will be cleaned and re-assembled for display at the Zoological Museum in Copenhagen.
