Sperm whale skeleton preparation. Shoulder blade bones from a sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) following cleaning under a high pressure jet spray. Prior to the jet spray, the whale skeleton was soaked in warm water for over a month to remove tissue stuck to the bones. This whale specimen was found stranded on Henne Strand, Jutland, Denmark. It measured 14 meters in length and weighed an estimated 30 tonnes. The skeleton will be cleaned and re-assembled for display at the Zoological Museum in Copenhagen.
