Reventador volcano erupting. View of the Reventador stratovolcano, Ecuador, erupting at night. During this eruption the plume from the volcano reached a height of 17 km and pyroclastic flows reached up to 7 km from the cone. The volcano's cinder cone lies inside a U shaped caldera, which opens towards the Amazon basin, and its lavas are Andesitic which is characteristic of the underlying subduction zone.
