The four-letter word [Tetragram] of the name of God, Jehovah, written vertically within a number of relevant symbols. Within the figure, the four becomes a three, and is linked, by way of the symbols, with he Three Principles. The upper letters are enclosed in the red triangle of Fire, representing the principle of Salt - the intellectuallizing force in the cosmos, and in Man. The lower square represents Sulphur, the will-force in the cosmos and in Man. The Seal of Solomon repesents the union of these principles, symbolized by Mercury, the androgyne which can bring harmony to the conflicst inherent in Salt and Sulphur. In essence, the Will centre relates to the sexual nature, the Salt centre relates to the brain, whilst Mercury relates to the emotional centre, located in the heart. Thus, this figure, which is thoroughly cabbalistic, is a portrayala of Man, enclosed within the name of God. Lithographic facsimile of a drawing done by the French occultist, Elphas Levi, and used in Wynn Westcott, 'The Magical Ritual of the Sanctum Regnum' [1896].
