Muri; Switzerland; altar containing the relics of St. Leontius. The relic of a martyr from the Roman Catacombs arrived in the town's monastery church in the 1640s. It quickly gained a reputation as being miraculous; and became especially associated with miraculous healing. This made it one of the most famous relics in Switzerland; and pilgrimages to the relics shrine were popular. The bones were never articulated. The relic was later joined in the church by a nearly identically displayed relic of a St. Benedictus; and both are still present. Photo 2012
