Nineteen thousand parcels of good things for Christmas, destined for homes all over Britain, are being packed from bulk consignments from Australia at a factory as Staverton, Wilts. Here the Express Food Parcel Scheme of Australia has its headquarters capable of making up 50 000 parcels a week. Under the scheme Australian donors pay 10s. and write a label nominating the receipient. The labels are flown to Britain and affixed to the parcels which are packed here. 28,000 cases of food, brought to London in the S.S. Perim have been rushed by road to Staverton, where the scheme, under the guidance of Mr Harry Simpson, Chief Executive Officer, is in full swing.
