Gimcrack (1760) was a grandson by Cripple of the Godolphin Arabian. At this active period of his racing career he was a very dark grey, but he later faded to an almost chalky white. He was an outstandingly honest and consistent little horse. His stud career is often dismissed as unimportant, but wrongly: his son Medley was immensely important to the American thoroughbred.
