One of the greatest half-dozen mares in racing history, bred 1899 by Persimmon out of Ornament, and changing hands surprisingly often. She ran 25 times. Her 13 wins included every classic, except the Derby, of 1902. Like her younger contemporary Pretty Polly she was a disappointment at stud in the short term, but an important influence in the long.
