French cabinet ministers sleep in a heart on Mont Blanc. M Joan Zay, France's 34-year-old Minister of National Education, climbed Mont Blanc, Europe's highest mountain, to open the new Vallet Refuge at an altitude of 13,000 feet only 2,780 feet, or an hour's climb, from the summit. Before completing the final stage of his journey up the mountain, M Zay and members of his party's slept together in the heart of the Club Alpine on Mont Blanc.
