'First Lady's' Protegee exchanges greetings by carrier pigeon. Mayris Channey, dancer, friend and protegee of Mrs Franklin Roosevelt, releasing the carrier pigeon which she uses to exchange letters with America's 'First Lady'. The pigeon was sent by train to Washington and flew back with Mrs Roosevelt's letter to Miami. 12 February 1938
