A heavy six wheeled army lorry 'bunches' itself like an animal about the spring, as it climbs a steep embankment in Woolwich Arsenal, London, where instructors for Britain's new mechanised army are trained. Young men chosen from different artillery units are put through an intensive course in the handling of tanks, tractors and transport lorries at the Arsenal, before returning to their own units as instructors. 8 January 1938
