Inquest on girl found dead in New Forest pond. Brother who discovered by the attends. The inquest on Sheila Sutherland, a 17-year-old girl who was found dead in a desolate pond in the heart of the New Forest, opened at Lymington, Hampshire. Dr H H Gleave, the pathologist, said there was a wound on the girls head. She had been rendered unconscious and put in the pool. A 21-year-old labourer, George Smith, employed by the girl's father, has been arrested and charged with the murder. Photo shows, Mr Daniel Sutherland, the dead girl's brother, who found the body, arriving for the inquest at Lymington. 17 December 1937
