Woman appointed to control 70,000 women Civil Servants. With 70,000 women Civil Servants under her control, Miss Myra Curtis has been appointed to one of the most responsible positions in Whitehall. As director of Women's Establishments, she will advise the Treasury on questions of remuneration and conditions of service for women throughout the Civil Service. She succeeds, Miss Hilda Martindale, who retired recently, and is the third woman to hold the post, which was created in 1920. Miss Curtis began work in Whitehall as a clerk in 1915.
