Still supreme and unchallenged in height the 620 ft General Post Office Tower situated just off Tottenham Court Road has now been open to the general public for some weeks Although the general public look upon the Tower as a source from which a great view of the capital is possible the piece of modern architecture is there for a very special purpose The microwave equipment installed in the Tower ( easily observed in any view ) enables telephone and television signals to be beamed in and out of London from many directions However the biggest attraction no doubt is the revolving restaurant which gives its customers a wonderful panoramic view of London and parts of the Home Counties A complete revolution of the floor takes just under half an hour - photo shows the 620 ft high GPO Tower which is the tallest building in the British Isles June 10th 1966
