Adelina Patti, born Adela Juana Maria Patti (February 10, 1843 - September 27, 1919) was one of the most highly regarded opera singers of the 19th century, considered to be one of the most famous 19th Century sopranos. She made her operatic d嶵ut, in the title r犨e of Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, at the Academy of Music, New York at 16 and at 18 was invited to Covent Garden. In her retirement, Adelina Patti, baroness Cederstr闣, settled in the Swansea valley in south Wales, where she purchased Craig-y-Nos Castle and also funded the substantial station building at Craig y Nos/Penwyllt on the Neath and Brecon Railway. In 1918, she presented the Winter Garden building from her Craig-y-Nos estate to the city of Swansea. It was re-erected and renamed the Patti Pavillion. ?007 TopFoto
