Life's a yawn for an Emu constantly in the spotlight. This confident Emu is one of the many native Australian animals enjoying life in the restored wilderness of Tower Hill State game reserve, near Warrnambool, over 200km South West of Melbourne. The reserve is 620 hectares of a dormant volcanic crater. In the 1860s, Tower Hill was cleared of all natural vegetation by European settlers. Work began in 1961 and since then more than 250,000 indigenous trees have been planted. It is expected that it will take at least another 50 years for the reserve to be restored to its original state.
