The assassination of a tyrant, the Grand Duke Sergius of Russia. Here shown with his brave wife, the Princess Elizabeth of Hesse Darmstadt sister of the Tsaritsa. The Grand Duke was assassinated by a bomb in Moscow on February 17th. His Imperial Highness was by marriage nephew of King Edward, his wife being the King's niece, the daughter of the late Princess Alice of Hesse Darmstadt. On hearing the report of the explosion, the Grand Duches rushed out into the street and flung herself upon the mutilated remains of her husband. 1905
