Major Emil Fey ( Vice Chancellor of Austria ) who has just taken ove the portfolio of Public Secretary - has decided by the most stringent measures to suppress Nazi violence - he has just issued a remarkable " shoot to kill " order to patrols of the Schutzcorps ( defence force of special gendarmes ) and the Heimwehr have received similar instructions - the full text of the command is shoot dead any person caught red-handed in placing explosives and also anybody near the scene of an explosion who tries to escape when challenged - members of the auxiliary defence forces have been issued with rifles and bayonets and the determined Major Fey has shown by word and act that they will not hesitate to use them - photo shows men of the Heimwehr being issued with rifles at a barracks in Vienna January 15th 1934
