For 35 years ever since the days when he had been a choirboy Edward Britton ( coal miner then lorry driver and finally street singer ) had dreamed of becoming a star on the London stage - fate seemed to have destined him to earn a few coppers singing round theatre queues and sleeping at night in the crypt of St Martin's in the Fields until he chanced to sing outside the Prince of Wales Theatre - he was overheard by Mr Gordon Courtenay ( a member of the theatre management ) an audition followed and next Monday on his 42nd birthday Britton will appear as a tenor-vocalist in the non stop revue running at the Prince of Wales Theatre - photo shows Mr Edward Britton collecting after singing to a West-end theatre queue October 5th 1934
