Behind the line in Korea . While the United Nations and communist staff officers discuss armistice technicalities , the troops in Korea are prepared to make the most of a truce . These pictures taken at the Hook , where a big attack was so gallantly repulsed at the end of May by the Duke of Wellington ' s Regiment , show the men of that batalion in and behind the frontline . In a sector that has seen , in the past year , more enemy activity than any other in the Commonwealth line , the men have restored positions shattered by shell fire , and have made this salient more impregnable than ever before ....and for themselves more comfortable . Photo shows : Men of the duke of Wellington ' s Regiment enjoy a smoke while waiting for dusk to fall before joining a patrol into " No - Man ' s land " at the Hook . 16 June 1953
