John Henry Cole, described as an electrician, of no fixed home, appeared at the Greenwich magistrates Court today charged with offences involving rape and robbery. The man, who is tattooed, was caught after a chase in the Greys Inn Road area last Friday. He had been wanted for questioning by the police for months. Paul was unable to apear on Monday, as previously arranged, as on that day he was found ill in his cell, suffering from suspected poisoning. 26 August 1947
