Miners daughter for Palace. 18-year-old Miss Joy Hood, a miner's daughter from Durham, has a very special appointment tomorrow. She has been selected to accompany Mrs Walter Elliott, Chairman of the National Association of Girls Clubs and Mixed Clubs, when she goes to Buckingham Palace to be invested, Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Joy, whose father is a minor at Whitehouse Colliery, company, Durham, is Secretary to the National Members Council of the Association.
