A voluntary movement is an intentionally executed movement caused by the motor commands emitted by the motor cortex. These commands are transmitted to the skeletal muscles through the spinal cord and spinal nerves. The muscle contraction that results produces the desired movement. The cerebellum controls the precision and coordination of voluntary movements.
