A coroneted travelling chaise with four galloping horses and two postilions advances towards the spectator. Beside it is a two-wheeled cart in which three country people are crowded. Beggars (left) limp towards the gate; one on crutches. A young woman on the arm of an elderly man looks over her shoulder at a handsome officer in regimentals.
