NANNI di BANCO (circa 1380/1390 - 1421); diminutive of Giovanni di Antonio di Banco; Italian sculptor. In 1405 he enrolled in the Art of the Masters of Stone and Timber to practice the sculptor's work in association with Donatello. The portrait is enclosed in a frame decorated with caryatides and atlases that hold the tools of art and an allegory of sculpture.
