The magnificent church floats on its own island, across the Grand Canal from Saint Mark's Square. It was designed by the great architect Andreas Palladio. Palladio combined the elements of a Roman temple with a Christian church. The white fronted church has a beautiful bell tower and monastery building. The group is architecturally eye pleasing.
