Oxidation of copper metal by silver ion. A clean piece of copper screen is placed in a solution of silver nitrate (AgNO3). With time the copper reduces Ag+ to silver metal crystals and copper is oxidized to Cu2+. The blue color of the solution is due to the presence of aqueoous copper (II) ion.
