Star trails of the Orion constellation setting at 31 degrees north latitude in Texas. Star trails are captured by long-exposure photography, in this case 3 hours and 30 minutes. The lines of light are made by the relative movement of the stars through the night sky as the Earth rotates. The colors of the trails reveal the variety of colors of the planets and stars. Photographed in Texas, April 2003.
