This short history of clowns shows Grimaldi's famous take-off, in the comic pantomime of the "Golden Fish," of Romeo Coates. It shows the development of the original "monstrosities" in court to the clowns of the circus in the early 19th century. It labels some specific clowns such as Grock and Grimaldi as well as different types of clowns such as jesters and harliquinade acts.
