Molecular model of the drug Ifenprodil (C21.H27.N.O2). Ifenprodil is an inhibitor of the NMDA receptor. The NMDA receptor is found on many tissues including lung cells, T-cells, and neutrophils. Ifenprodil also inhibits GIRK channels and interacts with alpha1 adrenergic, serotonin, and sigma receptors. As of 2021, it is in phase III clinical trials to treat SARS-CoV2 infection and phase II trials for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Atoms are represented as spheres and are colour-coded: carbon (grey), hydrogen (white), nitrogen (blue)and oxygen (red).
