Portrait of Pehriska-Ruhpa in Minitari dance costume decorated with elaborate quillwork, ermine fur fringe, locks of human hair and dyed hoarsehair. His necklace is otter skin decorated with small trade beads and grizzly bear claws. He holds a large pipe and wears face paint. In 1836 Maximilian commissioned Bodmer to create illustrations to accompany the text of his atlas documenting their travels.
