Dirk Brouwer (1902-1966), Dutch-American astronomer. Brouwer is best known for his contributions to dynamical astronomy. Born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, he received his PhD from Leiden University. His dissertation was for data collection and obs. Brouwer later moved to the USA and in 1941, he became a professor at Yale University. He served as the director of the Yale Observatory and he became Munson Professor of Natural Philosophy and Astronomy. Brouwer was also the editor of the Astronomical Journal from 1941 until 1966.
