Eupodotis afra; Print; The southern black korhaan (Afrotis afra) or black bustard; is a species of bird in the bustard family; Otididae. This small bird is found in western and southern South Africa; from Little Namaqualand to Cape Town and east to Grahamstown. It has undergone rapid population decline as a result of the loss and fragmentation of its habitat due to the conversion of natural vegetation into agricultural land. Due to this habitat destruction; the species is considered vulnerable for its risk of extinction by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.; 1700-1880
