EXCEPTIONAL PLATE WITH PEONIES.
China. Daoguang period (1820-50). Dated 1850.

Porcelain; painted in famille rose. The small plate is finely painted with peonies in pink; whith the stems stretching over the lip rim to the footring. Two butterflies hovering over the flowers. At the foot fine grass and blue chrysanthemum. H. 3cm; ?14cm. Underneath in iron red a nine-partite mark: Daoguang Geng Xu Hang You Heng Zang Zhi - Made for the Hall of Consistency in the Geng Xu year of Daoguang (1850) and period.
