Japan. Edo- to Meiji-period; 19th c.
Bronze. Vessel in shape of a duck with rider. The duck; with beak opened allowing for the smoke to escape; turns backwards towards the rider who sits on the duck磗 folded wings dressed in a Kimono adorned with gold. The rider together with the wings form the cover lid. Base on four feet in the form of pomegranates with bat faces. 35;5x20x18cm. Condition A/B.
