Diabetic disease in the kidneys often forms characteristic nodules (the round pink structures) in glomeruli of the affected kidneys. One such glomerulus is seen in this image. There is also a hyalinized arteriole (ring-shaped pink structure with a few red dots inside, right side of image), which is also characteristically seen in kidneys affected by diabetes.
