Gliese 677 is a triple star system in Scorpius, some 22 light-years from Earth. The two central stars, 677A and 677B, orbit each other with a separation of around 12 astronomical units. Meanwhile, a third star, 677C, orbits this central pair much further out, around 230 AU away. Gliese 677C has two confirmed exoplanets in orbit around it, and several others have been claimed. This illustration imagines the scene from a rocky planet in orbit around Gliese 677C. The large star in the sky is Gliese 677C, while the two others are the central binary pair of Gliese 677A and B.
